Project A-11
Project Abstract
The general aims of the project are
- to shed light on the notion of FINITENESS;
- to empirically clarify interrelations in the domain of finiteness by focussing on typological and diachronic data;
- to strengthen the relation between description and theoretical modelling with particular reference to some less well described languages.
In the last funding period we concentrate on the role of finiteness categories for referential and discourse anchoring. The main focus is on the relation of the verbal category mood and the realization of the subject, especially in constructions that diverge from the canonical finite-nonfinite dichotomy.
